Dear Bro Goodnow
Your kind favor of the 20th [xxx] was received this evening. I am sorry to say that the $100 draft has not been received. Do not get any letters registered. Please request the bank to send me a duplicate if they can. & not to pay the draft until I write that I have received it. I fear it has been stolen from the mail. I heard through your wife that one was sent. I thank you heartily for your kind exertions for us. May the Lord reward you greatly.
I have written you 3 letters.—The roof is on again tho not paid for. The plastering will shortly be done. The loss is a little more than $400.
The Gus Lin has made her third trip. Surely the Kansas is Navigable.

This week there will be an account of the laying of the Corner Stone. in the Express. I will enquire about the land warrant. I do not know whether your brother has gone tho I think he has. The stone work on Bro Dennisons house is I think done. & now they will make rapid work with the College.
It is said that there are some 10 Republican Majority in the Constitutional
