Untitled Document Lawrence Kansas July 7th 1856

Hiram Hill Esqr
Williamsburg –

Dear Friend--

Your letter came to hand July 1st. My time has been all taken up since then, but I will say a few words now – Mr Fuller is now in debt $42.10 on rent. I think he will pay it before he leaves as he is selling out here – I have offered to take a lot, but cannot [xxx] I have –

I hope you will always write long letters – they are [xxx] here --

The Legislature were scattered by U.S. troops last week – I am entirely sick of the Freedom Loving people at the North. They are all [xxx] [xxx] – and the truth can and will do just what they please and the north will Submit to it all. The South are doing a good work keeping out all northern Emigrants and the Southern Emigrants welcoming in by hundreds – and by fall they will have the advantage of us –

Mr Whitney has not got your house quite done – I have several who would like it

[Page 2]

Your property is all doing well I was offered $1150.00 the other day for you Cincinnati House & Lot. I would not take the responsibility to sell your larger property without an order from you. There is a man in town now who would give $750.00 for the Main House & Lot (33 Mass St)

Mr Fuller took away the rear addition on Lot 33 Mass We are [XXXXX] on with the Church building – Please give me a list of each lot you own in your next I want to be chure that my list is right –

I have so much to do that I must cut this letter short remember me to your Folks – and – a kiss for Arthur –

Your property is doing well – West Lawrence is in its native state as yet – I have just paid Mr Whitn – 235.71 – your Share on his note I received a letter from Coates that he had made a settlement with Wade and the timber matter Coates has arranged –

I have written you an answer to some of your questions in my last letter

Yours ever

S N Simpson
