July 29th 1856.
Col. C. K. Holliday
Dear Sir: - At a Caucus Meeting of Republicans, held here last evening, it was resolved to hold a General Mass Meeting of the Republicans of Eastern Crawford, in this place, on Thursday, August 21st, 1856, at 1 oclock P. M. and the undersigned were appointed a Committee to procure Speakers for the occasion.
In accordance with the wish of those we represent, we therefore respectfully Solicit you to address Said Meeting, upon a Subject which now seems to absorb the entire mind of the Northern Masses, and which your personal experience so amply qualifies you to Speak about.
[Page 2]
If it does not interfere with any other engagements you may have, we will respectfully urge the importance to our cause, of your voice in our Meeting. Much can be affected for the cause of Freedom and Fremont, in this Section, as it embraces the corners of Crawford, Warren and Venango counties, in which many old line Democrats have already determined to Support the Republican Nominees, and there is only needed a little excitement in way of meetings, to effect the proselytism of many more of them.
It is the intention of the Committee to invite Hiram L. Richmond, Esq., of Meadville, also, to address the meeting.
In order that we may have time to get our general notice

printed and circulated, we respectfully solicit an early reply.
In fellowship of principles, and determination to strike at least one blow for Freedom and Fremont, we beg leave to Subscribe ourselves
Respectfully Yours etc
