Rev. E. E. Hale
Dear Sir
The bundle of books & accompanying note from you was duly & gratefully rec’d, for which please accept my thanks. As soon as they arrive I will send them to their destination.
Gov. Reeder has refused to give certificates to about half the members of the Legislature

& will doubtless order a new election in Lawrence & some other districts.
Can such outrageous conduct from Missourians be longer tolerated? Our people are forming military companies & are determined to protect their rights even should it set the Union in a blaze –
We want 200 of Sharp’s rifles & two Cannon for Lawrence people, & I have written in regard to it to Mr Thayer – Cannot your secret organizations loan them to us till this question is settled, or till they can be paid for by the people here?
Very Respectfully C. Robinson
