Dear Sir, - Having no other means of knowing, I write to enquire about the Emigrant Association of which you are president. I have completed my trade, - that of a printer, - and am now determined to seek a home in the West. If there is need of a printer, about 23 years of age, in perfect health, and who could and would turn his hand to something else if circumstances required – if there is need of such a young man in any of the settlements in Kansas, I would thank you to inform me as soon as possible what inducements would be offered to him. My attention has been directed toward St. Louis for sometime past; but I have no situation engaged there and would prefer to go where even the influence of one might be turned to account, in helping to turn back the tide of Slavery which threatens to overrun that country which the friends of human freedom have undertaken to redeem.
