A.C. SWIFT, Cashier
KANSAS VALLEY BANK
Atchison, Kansas, March 10th 1858
Dear Sir: ---
I wrote you from Leavenworth the other day - But did not say all I intended about our Bank. Want it quoted in Thompsons Detector of your Small Town -- N. York is something of a place - but its too far from Kansas to make much of a Town. Still, we are anxious to be upon friendly relations with our tributaries. And to be sober we are a specie paying Bank! under a charter -- a copy of the "[xxx] State Bank" and I would like our currency to be placed upon the same footing as other Western currency -- Inclosed you will find the Card of the Best Bankers in Leavenworth -- We would make our Deposits with Thompson, and sell Drafts here

upon him -- Please see what you can do with him.
Write me immediately --
I would also like to have you see Danforth Wright & Co. -- our Engravers & tell them we want $20,000 struck off all in 3s sent here immediately by express. We rather circulate 3s than any other denomination.
Truly
S C Pomeroy
P.S.
We are leaving a vacancy of one of the Directors of our Bank for you -- if you
will have it
S.C.P.
