Letter, unsigned [Isaac Goodnow] to My Dearest Ellen [Goodnow] Author: Goodnow, Isaac T., 1814-1894 Date: April 15, 1857 Isaac Goodnow wrote from Nebraska City, Nebraska Territory, to his wife Ellen in Kansas Territory. Goodnow was traveling in order to raise money and support for the construction of a college in Manhattan. He was positive about the prospects, but also felt the whole endeavor was an "uphill business." Goodnow thought that, with his friend Joseph Denison as General Financial Agent, the idea would go through.
