Letter, Nathan Starks to Messrs. [Owners of the West Lawrence Town Site] Author: Starks, Nathan Date: April 21, 1857 Nathan Starks wrote from Lawrence, Kansas Territory, to the "Owners of that portion of the Town Site known as West Lawrence", regarding his previous requests to make town lot purchases from the Town Company. Starks found it difficult to conduct this business transaction since the various owners of the town site, including Hiram Hill were not based locally. Ultimately, Starks hoped to acquire enough land to build housing for his machinery, with housing for his employees adjacent to his business.
