Simpson to Hiram Hill Author: Simpson, Samuel Newell Date: April 30, 1856 Samuel Simpson wrote from Kansas Territory to Hiram Hill in Williamsburgh, Massachusetts, regarding recent land propositions and "excitement": U.S. Troops had been in and out of Lawrence daily, looking to arrest various citizens. Simpson also described his attempts to negotiate land ownership with others who were interested in developing West Lawrence, and sought the approval of Hill in the matter.
