Letter, James Redpath to Dear Sir [Thomas W. Higginson] Author: Redpath, James , 1833-1891 Date: February 5, 1857 James Redpath, a journalist who had spent some time in Kansas, wrote this letter to Thomas Higginson, an abolitionist and agent of the Massachusetts State Kansas Committee. Redpath began the letter with a vehement denouncement of Mr. Cutter, after Mr. Cutter allowed the Missourians to arrest him peacefully. Redpath was appalled that Cutter did not even fire a shot. He was obviously distraught, and he sought advice from Higginson on how he should proceed. Location of Original: KSHS Call Number: Thomas W.
