Letter, Amos A. Lawrence to My Dear Sir [Gov. Charles Robinson] Author: Lawrence, Amos Adams Date: March 3, 1858 Amos Lawrence wrote from Boston to Charles Robinson in Kansas Territory, regarding questionable ratification of the Lecompton Constitution. Lawrence advised that the best course of action to take was to "rid the territory of all traitors to the popular right", though such action should take place only if it could "avoid open hostilities altogether."
