Photograph, Thomas Ewing, Jr. Author: Brady's National Portrait Galleries Thomas Ewing, Jr. moved to Kansas Territory in 1856 and established a law practice in Leavenworth. He was an active free state supporter and a delegate at the Leavenworth Constitutional Convention. He had numerous business and land interests. He was one of James H. Lane's attorney's in his trial concerning the death of Gaius Jenkins.
