Charles Robinson, Washington, D.C. to William Hutchinson Author: Robinson, Charles Date: December 31, 1858 Robinson speculated about the prospects for financing and building a railroad in the Kansas River valley. He contended that government land grants would be necessary for the successful construction and operation of a railroad. Robinson also defended himself against charges that he was not working hard enough to convince the U.S. Congress to support a railroad in the Kansas River valley.
