Date: September 18, 1857 Raymond, editor of the New York Times, denied Hutchinson's accusation that the Times did not actively support the Free State cause in Kansas because of his failure to publish all of Hutchinson's article submissions. Raymond requested that Hutchinson, who was a special correspondent for the Times, strive to produce unbiased articles about affairs in Kansas.
