This circular letter was written by Edward E. Hale on behalf of the Worcester County Kanzas League. It was probably affiliated with the New England Emigrant Aid Company as many of the officers are the same. The document provided detailed information about how emigrants would get to Kansasand tips for settling once they got there. He also provided information on how to support the League through the purchase of stock.

Amos Lawrence, writing from Boston to Edward Everett Hale, a Worcester, Massachusetts resident, expressed concern about the manner in which Worcester leaders in the Massachusetts Emigrant Aid Company were doing business. Specifically, Lawrence was upset about Hale's and Eli Thayer's use of Emigrant Aid Company funds to make a loan to George Washington Brown, the editor of the Herald of Freedom.

Expense Account, Martin Stowell to Worcester Committee

This expense sheet, along with the attached memorandum, was written by Martin Stowell for the Worcester Committee in Massachusetts. Stowell had been functioning as the head of an emigrant company originating out of Massachusetts. The sheet provided a detailed listing of the cash he received as well as the cash he expended. His purchases included various foodstuffs, carpentry tools, cooking and eating utensils, and medicine. He also used some of his money to pay for repairs on wagons, etc. The attached memorandum was addressed to "Dear H" (Thomas Wentworth Higginson). It provided further explanation of the account sheet and gave news from the Massachusetts party.

Letter, Eli Thayer to Mr. [Charles] Robinson

From Worcester, Mass., on August 5, 1856, the founder of the Emigrant Aid Company wrote Charles Robinson's "brother" about "certain efforts to injure the reputation of your brother" whom Thayer called "heroic." He mentions the Buffalo convention and the shipment of weapons to KT, but the main objective was to reassure the governor via his "brother" that he had not been forgotten and that Thayer would remain his champion in the East.
