Writing to his father from Leavenworth, K.T., Thomas Ewing, Jr., described the prospects for "good bargains" in Delaware lands. "Hamp" went to secure 1,000 acres for Ewing, Sr., which they hoped to acquire for $3.00 per acre. Ewing, Jr., addressed additional transactions that he was considering for his father and others.

Quit-Claim Deed and Bond for Josiah Miller

Date: November 3, 1857
Josiah Miller's quit-claim deed for property in Lawrence, Kansas Territory, covered lots on Massachusetts, Kentucky, Connecticut, Ohio, and Rhode Island Streets. The property was signed over to a Robert H. Miller, his father. Miller's family had recently traveled from Chester, South Carolina, to Sparta, Illinois, where the deed was sent by post in order to obtain Robert's signature.

Letter, Sherman [W. T.] & Ewing [Thomas] to Thomas A. Thompson

One of the partners addressed this letter regarding the use of military land warrants in the territory to Thomas A. Thompson at Summit Point, Jefferson Co., Virginia. "Sherman & Ewing informed Thompson that such warrants could not be used to acquire land until after the public sale in July 1859, but some advice was offered for the interim.

Bounty Land Grant for Franklin Crane

Date: June 1, 1860
A bounty land grant was originally issued to Oliver Brown, a private during the War of 1812. This document declares that the tract of land described has been turned over to Franklin Crane, a resident of Topeka, who most likely purchased it from the original owner. This was done in accordance with an act of Congress passed on March 3, 1855, entitled "An Act in addition to certain Acts granting Bounty Land to certain Officers and Soldiers who have been engaged in the Military Service of the United States." It was signed by President James Buchanan.
