This volume includes lists of subscribers to shares of stock in the Massachusetts Emigrant Aid Company and the New England Emigrant Aid Company. The reports list the name of the subscriber, place of residence, number of shares, total value of shares, and when the subscriber paid for the shares. Subscribers included Amos A. Lawrence, Eli Thayer, Charles Francis Adams, Moses Kimball, and Charles Robinson. The volume also includes a list of donors to the company.

Mark Howard wrote from Hartford, Connecticut, to James Abbott. Howard enclosed with his letter a check and asked him"to expence this am't in such a manner as will procure the greatest quantity of arms and necessary munition." He and his local "Committee" were pleased to support Abbott, as a "determined friend of right and freedom."

Expense Sheet, Edmund Jones to H. Hill Jr

This expense sheet, signed by Edmund Jones, was apparently written by Hiram Hill. It includes amounts received by Jones during his oversight of the construction of Hill's house in Lawrence, the amount paid to Jones and Mr. Johnson (the plasterer), and the balance. The last column shows Hill's total expense for materials, labor, and land.
