The letter indicated that J. S. Emery was duly authorized by the New England Emigrant Aid Company as an agent to organize state, county, and town associations in New Hampshire to provide aid to Kansas. Webb suggested they follow the model established in Massachusetts. He also made it clear that the state association would be responsible for paying Mr. Emery for his efforts in organizing New Hampshire.

Stock Certificate, one share of Delaware City town lots

The Delaware Town Company of Lawrence issued this certificate which documented Samuel F. Tappan's ownership of one share of town stock valued at $500. Investors in Delaware City promoted the town as the point on the Missouri River from which freight could be shipped to Lawrence most cheaply.

This circular, authored by the Delaware City Town Company, advertised the Company's purchase of Delaware and their intention to develop it. This circular stated that freight would be shipped more cheaply from Delaware City to Lawrence than from any other point on the Missouri River.
