Blank Certificate to acknowledge donations to the Free State Kansas Fund

This blank certificate was to be used to acknowledge contributions to be used for the relief of "Free State Citizens" and for the "establishment of FREEDOM" in Kansas Territory. It had three lithographs and quotes from the constitution and the Missouri Compromise. It was printed in Albany, New York.

According to this document, signed by the speaker of the Kansas House of Representatives, the assembly owed $68 ("mileage and per diem") to Mark W. Delahay for "services rendered" as chief clerk from January 2 to January 18, 1860. It was simply specified that Delahay was to receive $4 per day for 17 days.

Certificate for distribution of Leavenworth town lots

The certificate, issued to Henry Miles Moore, secretary of the Leavenworth Town Association, detailed the town lots distributed to Moore as a town association shareholder. Moore held four shares in the Leavenworth Association and was entitled to thirty-two town lots.

Certificate, Leavenworth Association, One Town Shares

This document/certificate was identical to the one issued to Andrew H. Reeder (Document #261), but it was made out to C. A. Williams for "one share of the Town property of Leavenworth Association," and on the reverse side it was transferred to Reeder, November 11, 1854. It was signed by Charles Mundee, secretary, and D. P. Wallingford, a proslave partisan from Weston, Mo. At the top, the document was signed, "With Greetings: John A. Halderman."

Certificate appointing James S. Emery as a Justice of the Peace for the First District, Kansas Territory.

Date: November 8, 1854
Reeder made this appointment as the territorial governor. The boundaries of the First District were described in the document based on various geographic landmarks. The district included the town of Lawrence and ran along the south side of the Kansas River to the Missouri state line. Its southern boundary was the Santa Fe road.
